Louisa's clients wanted a private, outdoor dining room where they could eat with friends in the summer evenings and an attractive view from all the doors and windows of the house. This is a lovely, large semi-detached Victorian house near the sea. The walled garden was overlooked from all the windows of the house so shape was introduced and a water feature from a sea defence was installed with a circular pergola for dining outside. A steel band around the pergola was allowed to rust, and then covered with evergreen clematis and a beautiful white flowering climber, solanum jasminoides album. The new view from the dining room has brought the garden inside.
