Brighton Sloping Garden

The clients created a wonderful, modern house full of light overlooking the sea. The brief to Louisa was to design a garden that looked like the deck of a ship, with a pool and a great entertaining space. The new extensions from the house created different levels and the garden retains interest through dining, bathing, seating and sleeping areas, with a shower beside the pool and a lower, hidden deck surrounded by water. White lillies stand in pots in the water rill creating an island behind the high, privacy walls. The terrace was paved with Turkish limestone and the deck was an oiled hardwood. The steps had lighting in every tread and at night the garden comes to life.
