The top terrace and rose walk was the start of the landscape design works creating a lake, terrace and gardens to surround the property, including an orchard to be planted. The rose walkway was planted with climbing roses, clematis and jasmine. Rabbits and deer are a major problem on an open site in woodland, so the terraces were raised and enclosed and planted with rabbit-proof plants where possible. Large, wide steps lead down to the gardens from a grand terrace that did justice to the house and size. With a larger property it's really important to take scale into consideration. The clients had great vision for the future and were happy to plant for posterity.
