The scope of works included a new terrace, a facelift for an old pool and planting throughout the gardens and meadow. The pool was re-lined and new bull-nosed copings and a wide, large terrace enabled the space to be used again, with loungers and furniture for eating out with the family. The summerhouse was re-painted and moved and the wide borders filled with roses and herbaceous plants. Wire netting will keep the rabbits away until everything is established. The pool has a safety fence for visits from the granchildren. The circular edge to the patio picks up on the roman edge of the pool and the brick detailing ties back to the house. Louisa was chosen to undertake the design and build from a shortlist of four designers. She has returned to the house regularly to advise on further projects and ongoing landscape decisions - especially after a massive Yew tree blew down in a storm this year. This is what the clients said: We finally selected Louisa Bell of “The Lovely Garden”, primarily for the following reasons: An impressive portfolio of completed reference projects on a scale similar to ours. 2. The combination of a demonstrable skill in garden design and an experienced “end to end”project management capability, giving us confidence that our chosen design could become a reality without the risk of us selecting the wrong contractors or suppliers.
